Dakota Fanning is questionable

Dakota Fanning is a brilliant actress, and she did such a good job in man on fire, this 12 year old has more talent the any other actress lately!

I am a big Dakota Fanning fan and am not thrilled about a rape scene with Dakota
or about animals being hurt or killed just for the reason that i try to see all Dakota,s movies ill see it but i swear ill more than likely be closing my eyes or turning my head during that scene . Ive grown quite fond of Dakota over the years
and know truthfully even though its really a movie and just acting i am going to hate to see her going threw such a horrible ordeal if if it is just acting just the thought of her being hurt disturbs me emencely.I however do believe nether her mom or her agent would let her be hurt just so she can get an oscar thats obsurd

I for one would find this a very disturbing scene to watch
but i dont believe that Dakota,s mother or agent would
allow anything imoral to take place i would hate to even think of such a thing but it,s just a movie any of Dakota,s
movies are great but i think id close my eyes during that scene ive grown to fond of Dakota to be able to watch such a horrible thing id hate the scene but it,s only a movie thank God

Killing animals?! no way man I am NOT watching that movie. However the rape scene sounds even worse …

This is ridiculous in my opinion; I disagree very much with some comments made. I believe that most 12, 13 year old children understand the concept of rape, and it is crazy to think that they are too young to understand. One of my best friends who was a fairly normal kid had lost her virginity at age 13. It is not like it is a distant world to kids these age. Dakota is not being brave, she justs wants an Oscar for being raped on screen. And of course she isnt ACTUALLY losing her virginity, thats just absurd. I think that depicting the rape of a child on screen though is very wrong and just too disturbing for audiences. Sure, it can be implied, but the fact that they show a scene of Fanning screaming and the fact that it is the raping of such a small child, is just too extreme for me.

What about Jodie Foster in “Taxi Driver” or when she “appears” nude in “Little Girl Who Lives Down The Lane”…Brooke Shields in “Pretty Baby” “Blue Lagoon” “Endless Love” all were controversial at the time. Yet these two actresses are big time stars and have managed to keep the heads together and their feet on the ground. Yes, Dakota is a child, but in the world we all live in today, I’m pretty sure she knows what the movie is about and understands that this is a job and that she is “acting”, she is a professional. Movies are quite clever now…the use of body doubles, make-up, ditgital special effects, green screen all can make what’s happening on the big screen more realistic than the act in real life itself. I think that although she is 12 she is probably wise beyond her years and has to be given a little more credit for being able to decide if she wants to take on a brutal, but all too real subject that is very prevelant in our society today. So I say go Dakota, and I hope to see you in more movies with important subject matter as you grow up in your craft.

The point is that a 12 year old cannot make a decision to do this on their own. Her mother and agent both watched on as a 12 year old was told to get naked and simulate a violent sexual act in front of a room full of people while cameras were rolling.
It’s bad enough when you’re a child actor and your first kiss is on screen for everyone to see, (and not something that happened naturally for you to remember the rest of your life) but to have to depict something so sexual and viltent is just child abuse. What happened to the days where things were suggested? What about using a body double? It’s kiddi porn to have a 12 year old even topless in front of a camera and a room full of crew.
Shame on her minders who can only see an oscar in her future, and not the repercussions of their decision.

Good grief people, it’s called acting for a reason!!!! And so what if a 12 year old is naked? Get over it already! It’s not supposed to turn you on, it’s just a body for pete’s sake! Good for Dakota to do something different than every other prissy little girl who’s being protected from real life by playing dress up and pretending they matter to the world when all they do is play-act in front of a camera. Nothing is gained without risk. Risk expanding your mind and throw out your pre-conceived notions about how a 12 year old is “supposed” to be. Risk believing that child rape and abuse is a real problem and having someone whose face is constantly flashed all over magazines throughout the world might bring some attention to the issue by pretending she’s living the horror so many poor kids (boys and girls alike) face daily.

why would anyone even make a movie of this? I can see writing a book because they don’t have real life characters.

But Dakota Fanning is such an incredible actor and whenever or where ever her name is going to be mentioned, this movie is going to come up. Its like Johnny Depp and POTC. You’ll always look at Depp as being a pirate. Now your going to think of child porno whenever Dakota Fanning is mentioned.

And as for Dakota, she’s going to have to live with this memory of the movie for the rest of her life. Its going to affect her career and personal life, cause HELLO! she posed nude at the age of 12 for the whole world to see. Again; WHY????

Why can’t she just stick to roles like I am Same, Cat and the Hat, or Charlottes Web for now. If she wants to, maybe when she’s older like 16, or something like that. Movies that have roles like that shouldn’t be played, unless they get paid for mental councelling or (don’t know the procedure name, but when they erase parts from your brain)

Am I to understand that Dakota Fanning lost her virginity during the filming of a rape scene? I don’t believe such things can be “faked”, so the idea is even more disturbing.

And what’s this about an animal being killed on screen? Isn’t there anyone to say “no” to such things?

I think Dakota is brave for doing this scene. braver than me I’ll admit She is just a beatufil child and I can’t even image why some would want to hurt her.
I saw her in the Cat in the Hat and she was so cute. The cat in the Hat and Dreaner are the only two movies I have that consider her in it.

Child molesters are going to LOVE this movie. Can you imagine your daughters image being masturbated to over and over again during the rape scene? This will be forever immortalized. Now Dakota has become jacking material to deviants. Honest to God, Joy Fanning and Cindy Osbrink have lost their minds? This makes me sick. Answer me people, who in their right mind want’s to see a child raped even in simulation? Especially Dakota Fanning depicting it? A few people say good for her. But tell me, isn’t it going to be a little emotionally painful watching her in that scene? And anyone who’s familiar with her acting abilities, knows she’ll put on one hell of a show, almost too real–what a “mind phuck” (no pun intended) How in the hell can you have that kind of scene tastefully done? You can’t. I really, really, like the kid–she’s an incredible actress. But I don’t want to her being savaged like that, Hollywood simulation or not. If this is the kind of crap that her camp has for her future; sexually charged films, then I don’t want to see any more of her work–it’s too weird for me. The Dakota Fanning I used to know ended with Man on Fire, Dreamer, and War of The Worlds. I would love to know what her peers are REALLY thinking privately. You know this has to be bothering some of them. Anyway, if Dakota should ever see this, I hate to give you up kiddo, but things are getting a little too strange in your camp. Good luck, I will always admire you, and you’ll always have a place in my heart.

“Tasteful rape scene” I agree sounds rediculous as there is nothing tasteful about rape whether it be real or acting. I gather what was meant here is that the rape scene is not too graphic? Well, I choose to give the writer the benefit of the doubt ..
I have mixed feelings about Dakota in this role because of her age, but I adore her and fully intend to see the film.
