Sure there are background singers. Every artists have that. I think she can sing, she just doesn't have the range of say a Mariah. There is a difference between limited range and out of tune. But there are rare ones like, surprisingly, Amy Winehouse who uses NO type of alteration to her voice. Hell, 90% of the artist out now, CAN NOT really sing. They all use some type of alteration.
