Sydney Pollack died

Sydney Pollack died Monday afternoon. The 73-year-old director, producer and actor was diagnosed with cancer 9 months ago. He is best known for directing such films as Tootsie, Absence of Malice and Out of Africa, which took home seven Oscars including one for best director.

Sydney as an actor starred in Eyes Wide Shut, Death Becomes Her, Random Hearts and most recently, Michael Clayton. His last work was Recount which he executive produced and which recently premiered on HBO.

As is evident, Sydney had a long and successful career and unlike Lindsay Lohan, he didn’t throw it away by doing a bunch of drugs and banging a lot of dudes.
