This is called a chain letter and it has been illegal in the United States for decades.

Simple arithmetic will show you why it CANNOT and DOES NOT work. Since the money in the “pool” is not invested in any way, there cannot be more at the end than there was in the beginning. Therefore, it is NOT possible for everyone to come out ahead.

If this really was ever featured on Oprah and 20/20, it was as a scam.

A visit to the library will let you read any number of books on scams which can explain to you why chain letters are illegal.

The assertion that you are paying for a service is old. The U.S. Postal Service specifically says on its website that this claim does NOT make a chain letter legal. It’s all about the intent of the operator of the chain.

I am forwarding the URL for this posting to the Postal Service. Their investigators have the highest rate of conviction of all federal law enforcement agencies. It wasn’t very bright to put the names of the operators on a public forum. Duh.
