PEOPLE wins the war

OK! Magazine no longer has a stranglehold on the celebrity baby picture market. The AP reports (via NYDN) today that PEOPLE magazine has thwarted the child snatching beast that is OK! and secured the U.S. rights to the most wanted newborn photos of 2008. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s twins.

The magazine will feature Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon, in its Monday issue, People spokeswoman Nancy Valentino said Friday.

“We’re thrilled to be able to feature these pictures in People,” said managing editor Larry Hackett in a statement. “They will delight our readers who have followed the growth of the Jolie-Pitt family.”

No word on what they offered Brad and Angelina, but it must be something far greater than this piece of gum I found under a desk and these two vouchers for free movie tickets because that’s what I offered them. They seemed so offended. Obviously they don’t realize the skyrocketing price of movie tickets and that by this time next year, they could be worth $12 (void on “no pass” attractions).

Well… win or lose… depending on how you look at pissing away $15million.
