What was he trying to hide. Did he leave the house thinking everything was okay. Did an aid find Michael that way and his instructions were, call Dr. Murray first? Did Dr. Murray think he could bring Michael back before anyone found out what happened and what he had been doing. I think Dr. Murray did not call 911 right away because he was trying to cover his ass.
