Roman Polanski arrested in Switzerland

Roman Polanski was arrested in Switzerland late Saturday on behalf of the US. There to accept a lifetime achievement award at the Zurich Film Festival, Polanski was placed under custody at the Zurich airport. He may finally be extradited for having sex with a 13-year-old girl 32 years ago.

In 1977, Polanski was said to have drugged and sodomized a 13-year-old girl during a photo shoot. On the eve of his sentencing in 1978, Polanski fled the country fearing the judge in the case would renege on their plea agreement. Since then, Polanski has lived in France, avoiding capture throughout the years by staying away from countries with extradition treaties with the US. Oddly enough, he has traveled to Switzerland on numerous occasions without incident and even maintains a house there. Authorities say he was arrested only because they knew a week beforehand that he was coming.

Let this be a lesson to all you pedophiles out there. You may be able to avoid capture for 32 years for drugging and sodomizing a 13-year-old girl and, during that time, win numerous awards including an Oscar for directing The Pianist, live a cushy life in France and make frequent trips to Switzerland and Germany, but one day justice will maybe catch up to you. Wait, that didn’t sound as ominous as I thought it would.
