Nicole Kidman blames Hollywood

Nicole Kidman appeared before the US Congress in her role as UN ambassador and sort of condemned Hollywood for contributing to violence against women by portraying them as weak sex objects. In all fairness, she also said Hollywood was contributing to the solution.

When asked by Republican representative Dana Rohrabacher whether the film industry “played a bad role” in the way it portrayed women, Kidman replied “Probably”, before going on to say that she refused to take roles that portrayed women as weak sex objects. “I can’t be responsible for all of Hollywood, but I can certainly be responsible for my own career.”

Nicole should also blame Hollywood for placing too much emphasis on youth and beauty thereby forcing aging actresses to inject their faces with Botox. I think it would have been a powerful statement if after Nicole said that, she pointed to her waxy, unwrinkled, paralyzed face and shouted, “Look at me! Look at what they’ve done to me! I’m a monster! A monster!”

She is absolutely right for once. The movies are so degrading to females I won’t watch 95% of them.

In all fairness, Nicole probably injects her face because Directors and Producers DEMAND it of her and other women. Many times things such as hair color and style, weight, botox, etc., are determined by the boys running the show.

FINALLY….SOMEONE IS POINTING A FINGER WHERE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN LONG AGO! ALL THE VIOLENCE THAT IS PUSHED ON TV,IN THE MOVIES, ON DISC GAMES….NO WONDER WE HAVE SO MUCH IN OUR LIVES, ON OUR STREETS, IN EVERY PHASE OF SOCIETY. I KNOW THE BIG BUCKS FOR CAMPAIGNS COMES OUT OF HOLLYWOOD, BUT ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
THANK YOU, NICOLE.

So…”Victim Nicole” (who has portrayed a VICTIM in every single film in which she’s worked) is now blaming Hollywood for the violence and degradation against women? Can she please take that third lip, fake hair and superior attitude and mosey on back to Nashville with the regular folk? Just because she’s an “actor” (insert big guffaw there) doesn’t make her an expert on worldwide issues. That U.N. ambassador appointment? What a JOKE.

I’ve long felt the statements she’s made here were the case and agree completely with Nicole. The writer of this article should stave off comments in reference to Nicole’s appearance. Looking at the beautiful super close up pics included here, it contradicts the whole article along with the writers comments.

Nicole has never played a “weak sex object” role? She’s never played up her kittenish coy tendencies to be more appealing on screen? And her battle with the normal aging process is not indicative of her hypocrisy? I don’t think how she looks between shooting films and doing press junkets is up to the misogynist Hollywood Honcho set. There is no question that she chooses surgery and Botox because of her own insecurity. Case in point, I never noticed Meryl Streep Botoxing the sh-t out of her face in her 40s, and she’s one of the loveliest women in Hollywood.… Read more »
