Jay Leno fights back, mocks NBC

Jay Leno addressed the rumors of NBC moving him back to 11:35 PM by skewering them in his monologue last night. Leno joked that if his new show was canceled, it would free him up for some traveling and that “I understand that Fox is beautiful this time of year.” Leno also quipped that NBC stands for “Never believe your contract,” and that there’s no truth to these rumors because “NBC only cancels you when you’re in first place.”

TMZ has some new info on the Leno/Conan move. They say Conan was given the option to move back to the 12 AM – 1 AM time slot or walk. If he leaves the network, Leno’s show will go the full hour, otherwise, it’ll be 30 minutes.

There’s been no response from Conan yet because he’s out strangling peacocks. He must look hilarious when he’s mad. Which makes negotiations with NBC that much harder. Mediation is not easy when everyone in the room is laughing at you swinging your gangly limbs around like you were some sort of Stretch Armstrong.
