However, if people lost everything, including their shoes, it would make it more pleasant for them to do have shoes so they're not stepping barefoot on rubble and broken glass. Hopefully they donate useful shoes like runners and work boots though. I can just see her dropping a bunch of stilletos on them. Ok yes, compared to food and clean water and medical supplies it seems really silly.
