Harrison Ford hates fame but loves the money

hates being a celebrity because he’s lost his “privacy”. But that tub of money he drowns his sorrows in? That’s not too bad.

“There’s nothing good about being famous. You always think, ‘If I’m successful, then I’ll have opportunities.’ You never figure the cost of fame will be a total loss of privacy. That’s incalculable. What a burden that is for anybody. It was unanticipated and I’ve never enjoyed it. You can get the table you want in a restaurant. It gets you doctor’s appointments. But what’s that worth? Nothing.”

However, Ford admits there are some benefits to finding fame in the movie industry: “I’m in it for the money. And I mean that in the nicest way possible. This is my job.”

To recap: Fame – can get a seat at any restaurant, doctor’s appointments every time, bags of money, maids, people worship you, big house, girls love you, travel anywhere, no privacy. Worth: nothing. No fame – have to wait an hour to be seated, doctor goes on vacation, bags of bills, no maids, people forgetting your name, one bedroom apartment, girls already have 9-1-1 pre-dialed on their phones, travel to the laundromat, total privacy because who the hell wants to know what you’re up to? Worth: priceless.

Yea, I’d totally “loathe” fame too if I was Harrison Ford. This guy has it rough. How does he do it? He’s like those people in concentration camps. Trying to survive one day at a time. An inspiration to us all.

What do you expect from a hypocritical old pothead nearing dementia? He shouldn’t worry- his films have been bombing. Soon he’ll be an old has-been and inconspicuous again.

    • J. Galdo

Hey, how old are you Melanie?!?! You sound like a real loser!!!!!

  • PALIN PUSS FART

    He’s always so bitter.
No ones that interested in you bro!

  • Mel and Palin are dumb

Total respect to Mr. Ford who has always viewed acting as a job and never been into the celebrity stuff. What’s the problem with that? So many of the great movie stars of the past felt the same way – they acted in movies and only did the publicity part of it because it was required by the studios.

Blemish writer: I thought you were better than this. I really did.

P.S. You can find similar comments from Mr. Ford going back 25 years.

Love you Blemish. Hng, hng, hng.

I’m sorry but Ford is right. What if everything you ever did was photographed by the paparazzi and misconstrued around the world? Putting the trash out in your jammies (hung over!), taking your kid to the doctor (family tragedy!), bumping into an old friend (marital problems!)….

Guys wants to make movies. Guy likes his job. Guy doesn’t like the hornet swarm of attention that goes with it. Guy tells the truth about it. Nothing wrong with that.

I too would like the money and want to be invisible when not in the limelight. Sacrifices are what its all about. Ford gets plent of privacy up there in Montana, Wyoming or wherever he resided most of the time. I can however empathise with him Jon

  • Dustin Cooper

He’s saying that the loss of privacy is incomprehensible until you experience it. I can totally see what he’s saying.

  • J. Galdo

Harrison Ford has every right to feel the way he does as we all do when it comes on how we conduct our own lives! I give him props for honestly answering those questions in light of DB’s like everyone dissing him because he’s old?!?!?! When i was a teenager I knew everything, in my twentys I applied to life everything I knew everything about, in my thirtys I dug myself out of the hole I put myself in in my twentys, and in my fourtys I realized I need to shut the F up and listen because I DON”T REALLY KNOW EVERYTHING!!!!!!

Ford is like watching paint dry…..No one is more boring….Frankly…..He’s arrogant and certainly not interesting by all standards…………….Forget celebrity….He’s just a bad actor………Now its time to go away………

if you don’t get a break from anything that is too much it can become unappreciated.since Adam and Eve the grass is always greener on someone eles lawn. we want what we don’t have.we shouldn’t judge unless you walk in their same shoes.

What is it with these celebrities complaining about fame all of a sudden? First it was Sir Elton John, now Harrison Ford! True, fame can bring a lot of pressure amongst other things, but that all comes with the territory. If you don’t want fame, don’t seek it. Also,I cannot stress enough that when you become a public figure there is no such thing as privacy! For Elton,Harrison, and any other celebs with fame-hating epiphanies,SHUT UP!!!!!!!!

Harrison Ford has been our family’s favorite actor since Star Wars and nobody could play Indy better!! He’s terrific!

  • Leslye

Harrison Ford is right. It is a job. Unfortunately for the actors, every move they make, whether their personal life or their professional one, is under scrutiny. This article is just a perfect example of that. He has every right to want his privacy. I respect him for that. He had me hooked when *Raiders of the Lost Ark* came out and I’ve been a fan ever since.

I would take no fame because you can go anywhere you want anytime you want and nobody knows your name. Its sad when you cant even go somewhere and just eat in private with your family. I went to a celeb party once and i could not believe so many sad celebs because it was like they were like birds in a cage and people are always watching them. I rather be free than to be bothered all the time. True fame and fortune come with a price …and as for me i wouldnt want that at all…

  • tim

I don’t think Harrison Ford is complaining in as much as he is commenting on the fact that celebs have no privacy. It seems that he has dealt with the issue on his terms. As far as his popularity going away, I don’t see it happening anytime soon. He’s like Sean Connery, just getting better with age.

Don’t forget “married to Calista”, or whatever! I doubt she was in the habit of going out on dates with randpm callers she’d never heard of.

In a way I can understand what Mr. Ford is saying about being famous. Please, let us NOT forget he is MEGA RICH $

I am a disabled Christian man- I had polio as a child. I ambulate on crutches lately, because my arms are getting too tired, I’m having to use a wheelchair. Mr. FORD, if you were ever to read this, let me ask you something: With all the $ you probably have. Have you ever STOPPED and considered that “it’s all God’s grace” – I have an old beat up van. Again, because of my age, it getting harder to climb onto my van. It has “hand controls, but that’s it”-NO lift to get me get up when I’m using my wheelchair. I am NOT one of those who feels sorry for myself. I’ve worked all my life, and due to beeen diagnozed with (post polio syndrom) – my strength is withering away. They say that: “To Give is Better Than To Receieve” – I am NOY God and HAVE NO IDEA how many people you’ve helped thru-out the years & prsently help with the money you worked so hard to make. Let’s face it – work is work, wether you’re a Mega Movie Star or a Buss Driver. I have always dreamed of having a van with a lift- so I do not lose my freedom and independence, which I value and cherish so, so much. However, being on social security, having a van with a lift, (let’s be realistic) for me is a “pipe dream”..They cost approx: $35 to 45 thouseand dollars (give or take) Am I asking someout out there who God has “graced with the menas?” Allow me to be Real Honest. Yes I am.. It’s a paradox Mr. Ford (and all those of you reading this)- Life’s a journey. And when the journey ends, one pivital question will be asked of us, by our Creator.
{{ TO HOW MANY PEOPLE DID YOU EXTEND YOUR HAND TO, IN THE JOURNEY? }} I love all your movies Mr. Ford, or may I call you, Harrison?… Harrison, I’ve learned and I am still learning that: “YOU CAN’T KEEP WHAT YOU HAVE, UNLESS YOU GIVE IT AWAY” – AGAIN, I AM NOT GOD. AND BY NO STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION DO I KNOW OR WILL I EVER KNOW; HOW MANY PEOPLE IN NEED DO YOU & HAVE YOU HELPED WITH ALL THIS $ YOU’VE WORKED SO HARD TO ATTAIN? Harrison, I’LL CLOSE WITH THE FOLLOWING. (AND I PRAY YOU WILL ALL FORGIVE MY SOMEWHAT “PARADOXAL COMMENTS”.. GET CLOSE TO GOD MR. FORD. HELP THE LESS FORTUNATE OF THE WORLD. I DO, IN MY OWN MEGAR WAYS – GOD KNOWS I DO, & I DON’T HAVE TO PROVE MYSELF TO NO ONE. MY CREATOR KNOWS- HE ALWAYS KNOWS I CAN GIVE MORE OF MYSELF. BECAUSE BY GIVING MORE OF MYSELF, I CAN FAMOUS. AND NOT IN THE EYES OF THE “PUBLIC” – “BUT IN THE EYES OF GOD”
VICTOR HUGO ONCE WROTE: “TO LOVE SOMEONE IS TO SEE THE FACE OF GOD” ~LES MISERABLES ~ ~ HARRISON, ASK GOD TO REVEAL HIMSELF TO YOU. GET CLOSER TO YOUR CREATOR, THE “ONE” WHO HAS MADE YOU “FAMOUS” – AND I PROMISE YOU THIS: YOU CAN LIVE IN A CASTLE AND IT WON’T (MIGHT NOT) FEEL LIKE A HOME”.. COME HOME MR. FORD…. COME HOME PEOPLE. IT’S “NOT ABOUT FAME”.. $ HELPS… OH GOD WOULD IT HELP. BUT I’D RATHER LIVE IN A SMALL EFFICIENCY, THAT’S NOT CONSTRUCTED/ ACCESSABLE TO “BEING DISABLED” …
BUT YOU KNOW WHAT… WITH GOD IN MY HEART.
IT’S MY CASTLE !!! IT’S MY ‘HOME’ *** I WISH YOU ALL THE BEST IN YOUR DREAMS, YOUR EFFORTS AND IN YOUR JOURNEY.
COMMON PEOPLE!! IT’S A JOURNEY!! STRETCH OUT YOUR HAND!!!! ~ ~ ~DUNAMIS = THE POWER OF GOD!!! IN CHRIST LOVE. JCC/ CUTLER BAY FL.
