Edward Norton was fired

Edward Norton has been released from the 2012 The Avengers movie which had already signed him to reprise his role as the Hulk. Also cast were Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sam Jackson, Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth. The studio says it’s not because of the money, but alludes to Edward Norton being difficult to work with.

“We have made the decision to not bring Ed Norton back to portray the title role of Bruce Banner in the Avengers. Our decision is definitely not one based on monetary factors, but instead rooted in the need for an actor who embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members. The Avengers demands players who thrive working as part of an ensemble, as evidenced by Robert, Chris H, Chris E, Sam, Scarlett, and all of our talented casts. We are looking to announce a name actor who fulfills these requirements, and is passionate about the iconic role in the coming weeks.”

Norton’s rep responded:

‘This offensive statement from Kevin Feige at Marvel is a purposefully misleading, inappropriate attempt to paint our client in a negative light… This seemed to us to be a financial decision but, whatever the case, it is completely their prerogative, and we accepted their decision with no hard feelings.’

Maybe they’ll sign Eric Bana who played the Hulk directly before Edward and hope that he’ll take it because there’s no way they’re asking Lou Ferrigno. Can you imagine that conversation? It’ll be 5 minutes of Lou shouting, “What? What did you say? Speak up, sonny!,” into the phone. It’ll be the most frustrating negotiation experience the studio has ever had.

Difficult or not, Edward Norton played the part perfect. Considering half the Avengers cast are his friends, I think any issues working with him would be minimal.

I’m sure they are dicks, Ed is great and intelligent guy, incredible actor and it’s just that his salary must’ve been big as well as he didn’t want to play a dummy but wanted to participate in script writing and stuff. it’s Ed, he’s smart, some people just can’t work with that. we get it. Edward Norton is still a great actor and I can’t wait for Stone to be released. now that is gonna rock!

Agree Edward Norton deserve all the credit filming the Hulk movie and rewrote screenplays too. That’s stupid to fired him because saying he hard to work with from Marvel Studio president kevin fegie.
