Everyone saw this coming a mile away so nothing abut this Jesse James and Kat Von D split is particularly surprising except for the fact they didn’t announce it after their marriage to maximize the publicity. The two had been engaged for half a year and were planning a summer wedding although rumors of an impending breakup were already spreading.
The reason for the split seems to be distance. The commute between LA where Kat shoots her reality show and Jesse’s home in Texas was too much. James tells PEOPLE “I’m so sad because I really love her. The distance between us was just too much.” That is to say, it wouldn’t be long before Jesse started trolling tattoo parlors for new tail.
Kat Von D confirmed the split on Twitter and asked for privacy. “I am no longer w Jesse,” she writes, “and out of respect for him, his family and myself, thats all the info I’d like to share. Thanks for respecting that.”
