Bert and Ernie Aren’t Gay

The long mystery of Bert and Ernie of Sesame Street has been solved. They are not gay. Because they are asexual. Sesame Workshop had to make a statement after a petition went around asking they get married to celebrate the legalization of gay marriage in New York.

Bert and Ernie are best friends. They were created to teach preschoolers that people can be good friends with those who are very different from themselves. Even though they are identified as male characters and possess many human traits and characteristics (as most Sesame Street Muppets™ do), they remain puppets, and do not have a sexual orientation.

Mmm hmm. *Rolls eyes* Believe me, I’ve seen a lot of gay puppets in my time so I know a gay puppet when I see one.

People have too much time on their hands, circulating a petition about Bert and Ernie. Seriously…Now …if you’re talking about C3PO and R2D2, that’s a different story. I mean, C3PO wears a skintight gold costume. It’s so obvious..
