Today was Ann Curry’s last day as co-host of the Today show confirming days of rumors that Matt Lauer forced her off. There was an In Memoriam type segment for her where everyone went over their favorite stories she did. Then Matt kicked her in the ass and sent her on her way.
Ann told USA Today that she knew it wasn’t her fault for the ratings dip and that she’d like to have more time to work on the chemistry between Matt and her. “You know, Matt and I have had great on-air chemistry for 14 years, been part of the No. 1 winning team for a history-making number of years,” she says. “That said, I just finished my freshman year as co-host. In every single co-host’s first year, there have been kinks to be worked out, and perhaps I deserve as much blame for that as anyone.”
As for her exit, Ann let her feelings for Matt be known when he went in for a goodbye kiss and she gave him the top of her head. Then she hugged Al Roker and Natalie Morales while Matt just sat there looking glib.
