Extended Trailer for Honey Boo Boo Crazy Pageant Kid Show

TLC, which I always mistakenly thought stood for “The Learning Channel,” released an extended trailer for their upcoming show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. If you forgot, the show follows the backwards/backwoods family of Honey Boo Boo, a child pageant contestant who rose to fame after slapping her belly and mumbling something about GoGo juice, a highly caffeinated concoction devised by her mother with the extra 21st chromosome.

The trailer introduces us to her family which is every bit as eclectic as Honey Boo Boo is.

First up are her three sisters. Lauryn “Pumpkin” who’s “the craziest,” ie. has developmental problems, Anna “Chickadee” who’s of course pregnant at 17, and Jessica “Chubbs” who’s, um, self-explanatory. Then there’s her “Mama” June, the boss of the family, and dad/”Sugar Bear” Mike who may be the closest to normal in this entire house.

Well thank god TLC liberally used helpful stereotypes throughout the trailer or else I wouldn’t have remembered any of them.

How can call this the learning channel? What exactly are we learning other than America is obsessed with watching the media preying on the stuipity of people. Exploiting children, editing so the parents look like complete morons (although I can’t argue that they are not), really TLC what are you trying to help us learn.

I have no words. All I know is, the idea of a show like this (ANOTHER show like this) makes me nauseous. Please stop this insanity now.
