Lance Armstrong Admits to Doping

Oprah Winfrey sat down with CBS This Morning and confessed that Lance Armstrong did admit to doping in his two part interview airing on Oprah’s network beginning Thursday.

Winfrey said Armstrong was “forthcoming” and while he “did not come clean in the manner that I expected,” she was “satisfied by his answers.”

The confession was a stunning reversal for Armstrong after years of public statements, interviews and court battles in which he denied doping and zealously protected his reputation.

Just hours before the revelation, Armstrong appeared at the cancer charity he founded and tearfully apologized to the Livestrong charity that he founded and turned into a global institution on the strength of his celebrity as a cancer survivor. CBS News

Some say Armstrong is admitting his role in his use of performance enhancing drugs in order to garner sympathy in an attempt to get some sponsors back. Though, his admission of guilt could open him up to lawsuits from his old sponsors.

He’s also in talks to return part of the millions of dollars of taxpayer money his team, the US Postal Service, once received. Not only that but Armstrong may be willing to testify against others involved in illegal doping.

So now that he’s admitted to PEDs despite years of denying it, he’s going to rat out other people. That takes a lot of ball.
