Miss Utah Screwed Up the Miss USA Question

Did anyone know the Miss USA competition happened last night? Well it was and Miss Connecticut Erin Brady, a 25-year-old accountant, was the big winner.

Sadly, you won’t be hearing much of her in the next few days because Miss Utah, Marissa Powell, stole the show.

During the Q&A portion of the competition, 21-year-old Powell was asked by NeNe Leakes (ugh), “A recent report shows that in 40 percent of American families with children, women are the primary earners, yet they continue to earn less than men. What does it say about society?”

Transcript: “I think we can relate this back to education, and how we are continuing to try to strive … to … figure out how to create jobs right now. That is the biggest problem right now. I think, especially the men are … um … seen as the leaders of this, and so we need to see how to … create education better. So that we can solve this problem. Thank you.”

No, thank YOU, Miss Utah. You’ve shined a light on our education system and made a strong case for reform.

For what it’s worth, Powell took third place and also won Miss Photogenic. See? Everything will be alright, Marissa. At least you’re still pretty.
