Nicole, You’re an Idiot

Nicole Easton, who seems like a functioning adult, moved into her first apartment after graduating high school and promptly tried to jump off the roof of her place into a pool because her boyfriend did it, why can’t she? Well, for one, she hesitated and two, she’s an idiot.

While both her friend and boyfriend made the jump into the pool, Nicole landed on the concrete breaking both her feet. Now she’s disabled for the next 6 months.

That’s not that best part of this story though. No, the best part is that her mother, Carrie, set up a GoFundMe (beautiful user comments on the bottom of the page) to raise $4,200 to pay her medical bills and rent for the next 6 months. Suffice it to say, the internet has not been too receptive.

Yes, We have video of the accident. They never expected the jump to go wrong. WARNING The video is graphic. I wish I had never watched it.

Nicole has broken both of her feet. She didn’t have medical insurance at the time. Fortunately, Nicole’s Dad has been able to add her to his insurance. Today she’s having CAT scan. We should know by the end of the day when her next surgery will be.

Nicole is expected to be disabled for at least 6 months to a year. She’s in a wheel chair. Not taking it very well I might add. The issue is that Nicole had just moved into her first house with the best roommates. Nicole not being able to work can’t pay her share of the bills. This threatens not only her losing her place to live, but her roommate’s as well. Their credit too. They have signed a years lease.

I paid her share this month, but We need help while Nicole is in recovery. Living expenses. I’ve broken it down for you.

Expected time down is 6 months.

Nicole’s share of the rent is $300 x 6 = $1800

  • Food
  • Toiletries
  • phone
  • Utilities

Add up to $400 a month x 6 = $2400

So to recap, Nicole was being a “crazy young adult” one afternoon and ended up breaking both her feet on concrete trying a pool jump. Now her mom wants the internet to foot the bill for her stupidity for the next 6 months. And she didn’t expect this kind of backlash. Apparently the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. No, not very far at all.
