A Racist Spat in Mariah Carey’s Face as a Kid

While promoting The Butler, Mariah Carey talked about one scene in particular where a white woman spits on a black college student. Coming from a biracial family, she says that exact thing happened to her as a child.

Speaking to Yahoo! Movies, she said, “That actually happened to me.” She added: “I know people would be in shock and not really want to believe or accept that, but it did. That right there that was almost the deepest thing to me in the movie because I know what she went through – and it happened to be a bus as well. It was a school bus, in the face and in the same way.”

That incident probably provided the motivation she needed to become the person she is today. And that she finally found the person that spat in her face and kicked them in the balls. Mariah seems like the type that can really hold a grudge.
