Macklemore Is Really Sorry About Robbing Kendrick Lamar of His Grammy Win

After Macklemore won the Grammy for Best Rap Album, he sent a consolatory text to Kendrick Lamar saying he totally should have won and apologized that he robbed him of his Grammy.

My text to Kendrick after the show. He deserved best rap album… I’m honored and completely blown away to win anything much less 4 Grammys. But in that category, he should have won IMO. And that’s taking nothing away from The Heist. Just giving GKMC it’s proper respect.. With that being said, thank you to the fans. You’re the reason we were on that stage tonight. And to play Same Love on that platform was a career highlight. The greatest honor of all. That’s what this is about. Progress and art. Thank you. #grammys

This note must be real comforting to Kendrick. It’s like when you’re running to the endzone for the game winning touchdown with no time on the clock and get tackled at the 1 yard line and then the guy who tackled you says, “Hey, that sucks. At least you tried your hardest. Good game, man.” The animosity just flows out of you leaving you in a zen-like state.
