Katherine Heigl Delusional About Why Her Career Tanked

Speaking with Marie Claire UK, Katherine Heigl explained why she thinks her career stalled. Was it because she was an annoying bitch who did things like:

• Rail on Knocked Up, the movie that shot her to fame, for being unfair to women and claimed it “paints the women as shrews” and the men as “lovable.”
• Piss off everyone working on Grey’s Anatomy by pulling herself out of Emmy contention because “I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization.” This despite the show bending over backwards to accommodate her then hectic film schedule.
• Refuse to film scenes until her pregnant assistant got her a Coke Zero.
• Throw her cigarette butts everywhere.

No, it’s because her “career betrayed her” and she did too many rom-coms. Describing her career she said, “The thing that was my best friend for a long time suddenly turned on me. And I didn’t expect it. I was taken by surprise and angry at it for betraying me.” Oh, so it wasn’t because everyone thought you were an ungrateful asshole? My mistake.

As for her hiatus from acting, she said it was her choice. “I stopped challenging myself. It became a bit by rote and, as a creative person, that can wear you down. That was part of why I took that time off, to ask myself, ‘What do I want? What am I looking for?’ and shut down all the noise.” Basically, all the projects she took late in her career sucked and she just did them for the paycheck.

If you’re wondering if Heigl has changed at all, the answer is no. So check out her new show State of Affairs on NBC and wait for her to inevitably blame the writers for giving her nothing to work with when ratings start to fall. Because if there’s one thing Heigl learned during her time off, it’s accountability.
