Joan Rivers Might Be Taken Out of Her Coma

Doctors slowly brought Joan Rivers out of her medically induced coma on Sunday. Her daughter, Melissa, waited to see how she’d respond. Tuesday was the earliest that they’d be able to figure out what damage has been done.

“The waking-up process has begun and will take until Tuesday,” a source close to the family told the Daily News. “There is real concern that the part of the brain that controls motor skills may have been compromised, leaving her as either a vegetable or in a wheelchair.”

They family is shocked and upset and is considering a lawsuit against Yorkville Endoscopy where Rivers had her throat procedure last Thursday.

“The night before, she was performing and now she is on life support,” the source continued. “An 81-year-old should not have that procedure as an outpatient. Very ill-advised.”

Sources say Rivers would rather not live if she couldn’t enjoy a “full and active life.” Though that feels like it would be true for anybody. What fun is living in a wheelchair and breathing through a tube for the next 10 years? If that was my future, I’d rather be fired out of a cannon and into Kanye West’s gut.
