First Look ‘Batman v Spiderman’ Pics and Zack Snyder Comparing Filmmaking to Ultramarathons

The new pre-Comic-Con Entertainment Weekly issue has broken out with tons of new photos from the much-anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the most important thing is that director, Zack Snyder, compared filmmaking to an extremely difficult ultramarathon.

Here’s the quote from that comparison:

“Do you know that race from Death Valley to the top of Mount Whitney? It’s, like, 100 miles and it’s from the lowest point in the continental United States to the highest. It’s crazy. Anyway, it’s like that.”

Yes, building a Justice League franchise is like running a hundred miles up a mountain in the hottest place in North America. It totally isn’t just you having a consistent ridiculously well-paying job for a decade, Snyder.

Now for the behemoth of pictures.

First up, we got Batman and Wonder Woman posed in their hero-y love affair. Ben Affleck tells it best, “I love the fact that there was this Thomas Crown Affair, Bond-y sexy scene that they wrote about two people who are pretending to be two different people who each know the secrets of the other person.”

It seems as if in sticking with the dark brooding superhero theme that Marvel has used, DC will be adding in some serious seduction; we wouldn’t have hated that, Marvel.

While badass, I feel almost as confused as Ben Affleck being Batman as to why these people are in Day of the Dead makeup, well most of them, specifically Frida over there on the right.

I’m just gonna call this one “Fat Bat.” I mean, look at that signal.

Lex Luthor will also be featured in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater.

Ah, the showdown. Apparently, Affleck cleared up that the fight will not just be Batman causing raucous (read it Batman voice:) “because I’m Batman.” Man, if Affleck doesn’t use that voice, I know at least I’m going to be disappointed.

Affleck told Entertainment Weekly,

“He’s on the verge of being swallowed up by the anger and the rage that we see haunt this character in the other manifestations of it,” says Affleck. “But this guy is further down the line and has become more embittered and cynical.”

Well, that sounds just like Batman Batmanning, but apparently, that’s not the whole story. In addition to being the brood-iest, Batman thinks the alien needs to pack his kryptonite-free bags and head out because he’s got too much power.

All in all, am I the only one that’s still surprised Affleck is Batman? He’s just gonna make an awkward Ben Affleck face sending me back to Meet the Parents or Night at the Museum and my super-hero-y disbelief will be totally unsuspended. Wait, no. That’s the other Ben. Well, good luck, Affleck.
