Leah Remini Cites Tom Cruise As One Reason She Split From Scientology

King Of Queens star Leah Remini isn’t taking Scientology’s s**t anymore, and definitely not taking Tom Cruise’s. She is blatantly critical of his supreme status within the Church of Scientology. Remini told ABC’s 20/20 that:

“Being critical of Tom Cruise is being critical of Scientology itself.”

She says that anyone who has anything less than glowing praise for Hollywood’s most infamous heartthrob-turned-whack-job is considered evil by the church. Remini spoke with ABC about Tom Cruise and her decision to leave the church to promote her new tell-all memoir, ‘Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology’. The book will be released November 3rd.

Remini fearlessly took on the church’s most infamous member in the short teaser clip released on Monday. She’s expected to take it to the next level when she answers the on-camera question, “If you knew that Tom Cruise was watching this, what would you say to him?” when her interview airs on Friday.

She says that she was introduced to Scientology by her mom when she was a child, and wants to put a human face on those who get wrapped up in what seems like incredible nonsense to almost everyone outside of the Hollywood elite. Remini wants us to understand what it’s like and how people get wrapped up in the church. The actress made a break from the church back in 2013, slamming the door on her way out in an interview with People magazine in which she described her reasons for leaving.

“I believe that people should be able to question things. No one is going to tell me how I need to think, no one is going to tell me who I can, and cannot talk to.”
