Yes, Daniel Radcliffe is Still a Recovering Alcoholic

Three years ago, Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe admitted he had an ongoing problem with alcohol that began while he was shooting the Harry Potter films. He even admitted that he had been still-drunk from the night before on some shoot days.

He just appeared on the podcast WTF with Marc Maron where comedians and actors have a super in-depth conversation with comedian Maron in his garage. It’s really a great podcast if you care about knowing everything about someone’s experience growing up. Naturally, the pair touched on Radcliffe’s struggle with alcohol, as Maron has been sober since 1999.

“I was living alone, and I think I was really freaked out. I drank a lot. I think it was more to do with going out in public and having a battle within me of thinking no, I can have a totally normal life.”

Which I totally get. It would be very scary to have Harry Potter-levels of attention paid to you, especially if you’re just trying to have a good time. As a lifelong Harry Potter devotee, I remain very proud of Radcliffe.
