Get Your Tickets for the Gunshow: Sylvester Stallone to Produce ‘Rambo’ TV Series for Fox

The show is going to be a sensitive exploration of the father-son relationship.

AND GUNS!

Fox just closed a script deal for TV franchise, Rambo: New Blood. It’s, of course, based on the classic feature film starring Sylvester Stallone as John Rambo. The new series will  be anchored in an exploration of the complex relationship between Rambo and his son, J.R. Stallone, who might reprise his role, but he also might not.

The original film followed Rambo, a Vietnam vet who used his combat skills to take on cruel small town lawmen. I get that they are trying to make something more emotionally resonant for a modern audience, but come on. This is Rambo. Not The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

While the made-for-TV facelift this ’82 classic is getting might be killer, it might also be terrible. I, for one, am excited to see just which one it is. Considering the supreme suck-fest of the endless stream of Rambo sequels proved to be, I don’t think there’s really any meat left to beat on this dead horse, but I’ll try keeping an open mind. I guess.  Regardless of what I think, Fox has this one hour drama set to roll.
