50% Of Women Have THIS in Common With Kate Winslet

Academy Award-winning actress Kate Winslet is known for many things–leading lady, Rose Dewitt Bukater in Titanic; eccentric wildcard known for her ever-changing hair color, Clementine Kruczynski; heartwarming, yet melancholy Surrey, UK native, Iris, in my favorite it’s-after-two-and-I’m-suddenly-sad-let’s-rewatch-this movie, The Holiday; and her most recent film alongside Michael Fassbender, Steve Jobs. Except now Winslet is ready to shake up the scene. You know how Hollywood is–it’s contrived, it’s calculated, it’s mechanic, it’s branded and it’s sold to us as a commodity in the name of authenticity.

Hollywood is hard for the aging actress. The roles dry up. Your voice is quashed. And you’re thrown to the wayside until it’s time to play a younger, new model’s mother. Kate Winslet says no more as she rebrands herself as the woman’s woman. My woman. A woman with stress incontinence. In a brave moment on The Graham Norton Show, Kate Winslet shares, “I can’t jump on trampolines anymore, I wet myself.” And as far as we know, unlike other actresses, Whoopi Goldberg or Lisa Rinna, Winslet was not paid to endorse a product relating to the inconvenience of peeing oneself.

Kate, I hear you. Just this past weekend, I sat in a car with one of my dear friends and asked her the honest question, “Patty, how many times do you think peeing yourself or almost peeing yourself is too much?” It might be fate, but it sounds like Kate heard me too. Perhaps you’ll join me in some across-the-pond kegels.

Now while I might be a 20-something–one who holds her pee too long during the movies (probably ones starring Kate Winslet), or feels too lazy to get up resulting in my bathroom sprint–who has no excuse and Kate might be a dame with an Oscar she can keep in her bathroom, only adding to her estimated net worth of $90 million dollars, and a mother of three children, I thank my sister in the fight against stress incontinence.
