It’s Time for Olivia Wilde to Play Middle-Aged Mothers

You know that hot mama jama Olivia Wilde who was on House. Who starred alongside Daniel Craig in that already forgotten Cowboys and Aliens. Who seems to be happiest next to husband, Jason Sudeikis. Who’s now starring in Martin Scorcese and Mick Jagger’s HBO brainchild Vinyl as the hottest Warhol babe we’ve ever seen. Wilde’s accolades are something to take into account, something to admire, something to be unbelievably proud of for better or for worse, but still… at 28, she fell victim to Hollywood ageism.

Even though she’s starring in a Scorcese project now, she was looked over as too old when she auditioned for the role of Naomi Lapaglia, Jordan Belfort’s wife in The Wolf of Wall Street. As a guest on The Howard Stern Show, Wilde shares:

I did not [audition for Vinyl], because I had auditioned unsuccessfully for Wolf of Wall Street, that’s the one I was too old for.

Yeah, although Wilde wasn’t Scorcese first choice for Wolf… she didn’t even have to audition for Vinyl to get the part. She might not scream unsatisfied, neglected housewife of a drug-addled Wall Street stock broker, but somehow she screams unsatisfied, neglected housewife of a drug-addled New York record producer. Good for her?
