‘Ghostbusters’ Trailer Arrives. Yawn!
So I love Ghostbusters. It would be awesome if this blew up. Let’s not get into what it would do for all female ensembles. Maybe open more doors for all female casts.
Unfortunately, this trailer is a little lacking. Whoever edited it together was on Robitussin because this thing drags. You put four really funny women together. Yet, you got less than five jokes total in the trailer. They weren’t even that funny. I DID NOT LOL!!
Ok, the first scene where Kristen Wiig gets slimed, that was good. Wiig always has an understated quality, never hamming it up. She’s able to be funny without hitting you over the head.
The rest of the trailer kinda goes through the motions. It doesn’t help that the Ghostbusters theme song sounds like crap also. Whereas the original was upbeat, the newest theme song sounds like someone really depressed wrote it. Very slow and way more bombastic. I’m sure the call is going out to EDM people to remix it for the new generation.
I’m calling it now. This movie bombs and critics will pan it.
AFAIK this is the first negative response I’ve seen to this trailer. I think it’s going to be great and this is the first trailer. We aren’t supposed to see much in the early trailer…that comes with the later ones the closer we get. For me, it’s pretty much done it’s job and made me excited for the movie. Also, the EDM treatment serves the purpose of the film and makes it a little darker and moodier. That should pair nicely with a movie about hunting ghosts. Really good points and hopefully, it’s as strong as everyone thinks. They have four great comedians so let’s hope their talents aren’t wasted. Also intrigued to see how they all play off of each other. And yea, excellent point about building suspense.
..I hope Diplo does the Ghostbusters remix.
LOL go to the Youtube trailer and look at the ratio of likes to dislikes. Go to the Ghostbusters Facebook and look at the comments to the trailer. If this is the first negative response you’ve seen, you’re either a lying Sony plant or you haven’t looked into the general responses to this trailer. At all.
The trailer is terrible.

Judging by the director (Paul Feig) and writer (Katie Dippold) and their pedigrees, I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt.
