Robert De Niro Gonna Do Standup Comedy Which Sounds Horrible Already

Robert De Niro did Taxi Driver, Raging Bull and Casino. Just mull that over for a second. Now he’s doing farce fare like Dirty Grandpa and The Intern. When reviews about Dirty Grandpa say “Robert De Niro hits rock-bottom opposite Zac Efron in this atrocious excuse for a comedy” and “‘Dirty Grandpa’ is another unfunny Robert De Niro debacle,” you need to rexamine your career choices.

No, not De Niro. He still wants to jam himself into the comedy world. Analyze This and Meet the Fockers must have tricked him into thinking he had comedy chops.

Now, De Niro plans to a standup comedy set at the Comedy Cellar in New York City. It’ll be for his upcoming movie, The Comedian. Thankfully, standup comedian Jeffrey Ross supposedly wrote his routine.

De Niro coasts without Martin Scorsese pushing him. My guess is that De Niro doesn’t respect many of the directors he works with as much as he respects Scorsese. De Niro’s trying to grab as much money as he can at age 73. That’s the only way to explain Dirty Grandpa.

De Niro is still capable of fine performances with talented writers/filmmakers. “The Comedy” hopefully will be another fine performance by De Niro like “King of… Read more »

Amen to that. DeNiro indeed has nothing to prove to anyone. He is one of the greatest actors of all time. And remember Rupert Pupkin in The King of Comedy. The man’s a genius and he doesn’t need the money. The DeNiro’s own most of Tribeca. They have been big in real estate for decades.
