What Exactly Is the Pong Seed and How Is It Killing People?

On March 1, news broke that a 22-year-old transgender had taken his life by way of a seeds he bought online for $5. You know what that means. Time for some pearl clutching. The seed he took is known as the pong seed and it leads to a slow, agonizing death that lasted for hours.

Mother Natosha Anderson said she found her son lying on their bathroom floor after being sick for hours. It wasn’t until the end that he admitted to eating the seeds.

“He said, ‘I can’t feel my heart.’ And I said, ‘What’s wrong? What’s going on?’ And he said, ‘I took a pong seed.’ And I said, ‘A what? What is that?'” Anderson said. “The police, the paramedics, they didn’t even know, no one knew.”

Explained Natosha, “I’m pretty sure he thought it was going to be easy, but it wasn’t. He died in pain. It was slow, and it was painful.”

This is definitely not the way you want to go out if you’re looking to take your own life.

So what exactly is the pong seed?

The pong seed is gathered from the fruit of a toxic plant called cerbera odollam or more commonly known as the Suicide Tree. The plant is native to India and southern Asia and bears a striking resemblance to oleander which is also toxic. Unlike oleander, however, you only need one seed to do damage.

Most cases of use involve suicide but, for obvious reasons, the seeds are also used for homicides. Some have taken to calling the it the assassin seed. Since pong seed poisoning is very hard to detect, there’s no hard numbers on how many times it has been used for murder.

However, there is good news for people who “accidentally” ingest the seed. An antidote called Digibind exists and works pretty well to counteract the toxin. Good luck with that though. Pong seed poisoning is not the first thing to jump to someone’s mind when they’re diagnosing someone.

In short, you probably don’t want to buy one of these and throw it in your frat bros drink. He probably won’t laugh it off and give you a high five no matter how many times you yell, “It’s a prank! It’s a prank!”

“…a 22-year-old transgender had taken his life by way of a seeds he bought…” should be “…a 22-year-old transgender woman had taken her life by way of seeds she bought…”

Transgender woman, not “a transgender”.

Why don’t you also call them “a black”, since I’m sure that makes them a genderless THING to you as well.

Someone’s dead, and you still can’t be bothered to treat them like a human being.

You are a complete piece of human garbage.

If anyone needs to be eating those seeds, its you.

What is the problem with the grammar / syntax / reference to gender? Someone despaired enough to end his OR her own life, and you can be sure it is the “Archie Bunker” attitude of most narrow-minded humans that was the deciding factor. In truth, the story does not make clear whether the suffering, very young individual — whose mother had to witness her child’s agonizing demise — was a female-to-male OR male-to-female transgender person, and who the f–k cares? A life was lost to what can only be called the “bullying” that appears in the very first comment to… Read more »
