Jon Stewart Refuses to Take a Stance on His Friend Louis CK’s Creepiness

All my heroes are trash (or dead) (or both). And I don’t even know why I’m surprised anymore. Amidst startling rumors of sexual misconduct from one Louis CK, I have to say I’m mourning the lost of another fallen angel. Here’s a guy who seems so deeply connected to the whiny inner workings of human suffering and yet, instead of remaining in an apathetic shell like the rest of us, he’s taking it out on other people.

While Jon Stewart was at a live taping of David Axelrod’s podcast, The Axe Files, the previous The Daily Show host was confronted with the allegations against his dear friend. In the video below, you’ll see a floundering Jon Stewart dodge questions very poorly and then when finally giving in, he’s still wishy washy and evasive. He’s seen saying:

So the internet said Louis harassed women? You know who you’re talking to, right? I didn’t see the tweets. [laughter] I honestly, I’m not that connected to that world, so I do apologize, I don’t know what you’re talking about, but…I can’t really, I don’t know what to say.

I guess going over the radar and off the air has made our favorite late night host of yesteryear lose touch with social consciousness now that it’s no longer in his best interest to stay on brand. He backpedals a whole bunch, digging his hole so much deeper:

All I can tell you is I’ve worked with Louie for 30 years and he’s a wonderful man and person and I’ve never heard anything about this, and we’ve all known Bill Cosby was a prick for a long time. Yeah, sorry.

Oh so wonderful men don’t rape? How many of you have been sexually assaulted by a man who thought was wonderful at one point?
