Look, Another Viral Pity Post

Maybe it’s just because I’m dead inside, but I’m tired of y’all getting off on pretending you’re good people by lazily circulating pictures of sad strangers.

Like y’all remember Paw Paw and his burgers?

Probably not.

From  The Daily Mail:

An autistic girl was left ‘crying into her birthday cake’ as she celebrated her 18th birthday alone after none of her friends turned up to her party.
Hallee Sorenson from Bangor, Maine invited all her friends and classmates to help celebrate her special day with bowling and ice cream cake, in July last year.
Her mother, Allyson Seel-Sorenson, took a heartbreaking photo of her daughter sitting alone in front of her cake with a party hat on because she ‘didn’t know what else to do’.

Here’s the picture of it.

Hope y’all enjoy your daily dose of sadsturbation.

Her cousin Rebecca Lyn (who didn’t show up to her party last year mind you) tried to fix this by making a Facebook post sharing the picture and asking other people to care more than she managed to last year at Hallee’s upcoming birthday.

‘I would love to flood her mailbox with birthday cards, from all over! Hal loves getting mail – this would be the best birthday gift she could ask for.’

Ok, so that’s really nice. But I still am suspicious of y’alls viral love of benign human sadness.

Ms Lyn wrote the post on Wednesday and it has gone viral over the 48 hours since, receiving more than 120,000 shares.

She didn’t tell her aunt about the post until it had already had thousands of shares.

Happy birthday Halle. I hope you get some genuinely fun cards and not just a bunch of 4Chan trolls sending you requests to lick their balls.
