Can a man not drink a beer and listen to Radiohead in peace anymore? Radiohead, one of the least confrontational and most peaceful bands ever, led indirectly to the assault of their fans with broken beer bottles and pipes.
At Velvet Indieground, a record store in Istanbul, Turkey, there was a promotional event for the new Radiohead album, A Moon Shaped Pool. It’s also Ramadan for Muslims, the month where they refrain from smoking, drinking and sexual behaviors during sunrise to sunset. It also prohibits sinful behaviors, but evidently terrorizing people with assault and weapons does not fall under that category.
According to Reddit:
Around 21:00 (local time) a group of motherfuckers attacked and beaten up the shop owner, manhandled the visitors and vandalized the store. And their reason: just because of Turkey is in Ramadan (fasting) month and that crowd drinking beer, having fun around the store and it’s forbidden to drink alcohol and stuff in Ramadan time for fucking muslims!

One of the event’s hosts also posted to Reddit. What happened will actually neither surprise nor shock you, considering everything that’s happened over the years and recent months.

Here he was, this dude in Turkey, just listening to Radiohead on a Friday night. Ten minutes later, he was hoping that he and no one else would die. Can there not be a loophole in Islam where people can drink beers, chill out and listen to some Radiohead?? Where’s THAT Change.org petition?!?

Exactly. It is radical, hardline religious practice where they force their ideals of pure practice onto you, forcefully. It is fanaticism that turns into terrorism on a personal level. And sadly, the #1 petri dish for this behavior worldwide presently is Islam. And the world is ignoring it at its own peril presently.
