Fox TV Ready to Take Its Bite Out of the Marvel Universe With This ‘X-Men’ Story

Ok. So since Disney took over the Marvel studio several years ago, we’ve seen a massive expansion of what was once a very niche market for nerds. Superhero movies (and let’s hope, their super-villain counterparts) have taken the action genre by storm, thereby creating their own world of thought. With it comes their own rules. And because it’s all new and it’s all fun, we haven’t hammered out these rules yet. New standards for writers, producers and casting have done more good for the industry than the concepts of the films themselves. And now… Marvel will take its show to FOX.

What the f**k am I talking about? FOX has decided to take its bite out of the Marvel cinematic universe by producing its very own, yet-to-be-named, X-Men pilot. Matt Nix will write it. Don’t know who he is? Do some fucking googling. He brought us the strangely fabulous USA series, Burn Notice, but also found himself in slapstick comedy with 2010’s The Good Guys and 2015’s The Comedians. Point here being… he’s a veteran of Hollywood and he does seem to know what he’s doing.

Per Variety:

The untitled series will focus on two ordinary parents who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.

The series will be a Marvel first for FOX, but rest assured we’ll be in good hands. Nix will serve as executive producer alongside Bryan Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, and Marvel veterans, Jeph Leob and Jim Chory. (Yep, I double checked that I spelled those names correctly)

The inclusion of FOX has been a long time coming. According to Fox Broadcasting Company president, David Madden, it’s vital to him that we tell these stories:

Developing a Marvel property has been a top priority for the network — and we are so pleased with how Matt Nix has led us into this thrilling universe. here’s comic book adventure, emotional and complicated relationships and a rich, existing mythology from which to draw. With the brilliant production crew behind this project, it has all the makings of a big, fun and exciting new series.

Expect THE MOST.
