James Blunt Says You’re ‘Fucked Up’ for Playing ‘You’re Beautiful’ at Weddings

James Blunt is the one-hit wonder John Mayer. Blunt’s song, “You’re Beautiful,” was everywhere when released in the mid-2000s. It’s an amazing pop song that got overplayed.

Its chorus, “You’re beautiful. You’re beautiful/You’re beautiful, it’s true,” has led many people to play the song at weddings or other romantic events.

Too bad they don’t really understand the other lyrics besides the chorus. According to Blunt:

‘You’re Beautiful’ is not this soft romantic fucking song. It’s about a guy who’s high as a fucking kite on drugs in the subway stalking someone else’s girlfriend when that guy is there in front of him, and he should be locked up or put in prison for being some kind of perv.

Add this to the song’s lyrics being about loss, breakup and not ever being with the one you love. In other words, a perfect wedding song.

If you do play this song at a wedding, Blunt has some words for you.

“Everyone goes, ‘Ah, he’s so romantic. I want ‘You’re Beautiful’ as my wedding song.’ These people are fucked up.”

Hear that? Don’t be a f**k up and play this at your wedding.

Now, watch James Blunt play this song at a student union in England. Still a great song, not so great of a wedding song.
