‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Trailer Does Nothing For Me

It’s here. The official Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer.

What did we learn from this trailer? Well, Robert Downey Jr. appears to be the star, even though he’s Iron Man and not Spider-Man. I guess the studio didn’t exactly trust relative unknown Tom Holland to carry the film.

They appear to limit the love story stuff, which is great because I got enough of that with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.

The trailer also gives away a good chunk of the movie. Peter Parker is already Spider-Man, but he must find himself as Spider-Man. And Tony Stark is his dad or something.

Sorry, but I’m just not excited for this. There have been more iterations of Spider-Man than I’ve had girlfriends in the last 15 years. Yes, this makes me a sad individual. This also tells me that there are too many damn Spider-Man movies. Not every franchise can be as awesome asĀ Wolverine, where they’ve had one guy play the same character since the inception, but that’s why every franchise sucks compared to Wolverine. The Spider-Man franchise sucks.

On the bright side, Tom Holland looks like an actual teenager, Michael Keaton is reprising his role as Birdman, and Donald Glover is somewhere in the film. So maybe there’s hope.
