Katy Perry’s New Song Might Be About Taylor Swift, It’s Bad Either Way

After breathing heavy at the Grammys and calling it a performance, releasing a track about food porn, and making a bad Obama joke; KATY PERRY IS BACK!

She released a new track titled “Swish Swish” featuring Nicki Minaj, and fans quickly assumed that it’s about Taylor Swift.

The lyrics could be about literally anyone who has ever wronged Katy or could just be a “revenge anthem” but what fun is that? Since Perry has yet to musically respond to “Bad Blood,” a track that is now over two years old, we just all assume that this is the response.

First off, the intro is terrible and unnecessary. It’s an immediate vibe killer.

Now, let’s go lyric decoding.

Don’t lose no sleep
Don’t need opinions
From a selfish or a sheep
Don’t you come for me

Perry has tweeted about sheep before.

That tweet was supposedly a reference to Swift. Maybe she’s just a big fan of sheep?

You’re calculated
I got your number
‘Cause you’re a joker
And I’m a courtside killer queen
And you will kiss the ring
You best believe

What exactly is a “courtside killer queen”? This is my issue with the track. It kind of tries to be a basketball track with certain basketball references, but it loses the plot when it’s also about revenge. Taylor may have been sub-singing in “Bad Blood,” but at least you knew it was a song about having bad blood. This song is just a mess.

Your game is tired
You should retire
You’re ’bout cute as
An old coupon expired
And karma’s not a liar
She keeps receipts

Now the track is about grocery shopping. Nicki Minaj tries to save it, but fails whenever she tries to weirdly sing.

Katy has had two years to come up with a response….and this was the best she could do?

I don’t know what Katy Perry is trying with this track or the two previously released tracks from her upcoming album. I just know that my ears hurt.
