Melissa Joan Hart better call up Clarissa to explain this one.
As you can see, Hart complained that Hurricane Maria ruined her upcoming vacation. She has since deleted the Instagram post, but this is the internet. Nothing is ever deleted.
After googling “Nick Resort Punta Cana,” I learned that it stands for Nickelodeon Resort. That’s right, Melissa Joan Hart’s idea of a family vacation is to go to a resort owned by the company where she first rose to fame. I’m willing to bet that she doesn’t even pay for this trip. She just has a lifetime membership. When you realize that Hart is complaining about a canceled trip to a place where she could go anytime for free, it makes the situation look far worse.
And it’s already pretty bad.
Because this is the Internet, everyone took to Twitter to rip Hart for caring more about her family vacation than those in Dominica who have died and lost power due to Hurricane Maria.
First, Punta Cana is the Dominican Republic, not Dominica. And it's better to be "bummed" about death, destruction there.

So does that mean Melissa doesn’t have to cancel her family vacation? Maybe she deleted the post because she realized the vacation is still on. Not the backlash.

That’s a good post. It sucks that this person’s house is underwater, but damn if they didn’t make an excellent tweet out of it.
Hart has since tried to right her wrong.
Everything is cool guys. Hart tagged Salma Hayek to prove she has friends from that area. Nothing to see here.
Although this post possibly made it worse.
I’m all for laughing in the face of a bad situation, but in order to laugh, one must find something funny. That meme is not funny.
I think we all know the lesson here. If you’re a celebrity (or anyone, really) and there is a national tragedy, make sure you tweet your thoughts and prayers to the victims before you tweet about anything else. And definitely don’t talk about your vacation.
