Last week there was a lot of speculation regarding whether Nicki Minaj is indeed dating a convicted sex offender. Well, in case this was keeping you up late at night, we now have official confirmation that Nicki is indeed dating a rapist who assaulted a 16-year-old girl in 1995 and was sentenced to 18-54 months in prison. How utterly romantic!
Minaj’s boyfriend Kenneth “Zoo” (gag!) Petty is a registered sex offender for life. In New York, he’s listed as a level two offender, which means he’s considered a “moderate risk of repeat offense.” Well, isn’t that comforting? That must have been what clinched the deal with Nicki. Petty only might renew his rapey behavior.
Oh and this dude’s a convicted murderer! I don’t think we even knew about this last week! Today it came out that Petty also pled guilty in 2006 to the first-degree manslaughter after shooting a man in 2002. You really know how to pick a winner, don’t you, Nicki?
Now, many fans have commented on Nicki Minaj’s Instagram account that she might want to take her new beau’s highly problematic criminal record into consideration. And if you thought that Nicki would regard her fans’ concerns with the seriousness they deserve, well, you would be wrong. This was Nicki Minaj’s response:
“He was 15, she was 16 … in a relationship. But go awf Internet. Y’all can’t run my life. Y’all can’t even run y’all own life. Thank you boo.”
What the hell? How does that justify committing sexual assault? You don’t get a pass for raping your girlfriend no matter your age or your relationship status. There’s no excuse for that. It’s bullshit justifications like this that make assault victims reluctant to come forward. You are an enabler, Nicki Minaj. And you should be ashamed for not only associating with this human garbage but justifying his monstrousness so repugnantly to the people who support you.
