Sense About Science, a UK charity that has a membership of over 5,000 scientists, released it’s year-end Celebrities are Idiots list wherein they not so directly call certain famous people morons for making unscientific claims.

For example, they out Michele Bachmann who claims the HPV vaccine causes mental retardation when in fact “there is no evidence that the HPV vaccine causes mental retardation or that there are dangerous consequences.” What may cause mental retardation, however, is Michele Bachmann’s genes.

The group sighed at Simon Cowell’s claim that an iv of Vitamin C, B12 and magnesium helps him feel younger and healthier and also at Gisele Bundchen’s statement that sunscreen is a synthetic poison.

They also shake their heads at Snooki who once claimed “that the ocean is salty because of all the whale sperm.” Clearly that woman had one too many balls shoved in her mouth.

Then there’s Bill O’Reilly who said “In my opinion — all right? Tide goes in, tide goes out. Never a miscommunication. You can’t explain that. You can’t explain why the tide goes in.”

Turns out you can. With science! Otherwise known as the Devil’s algebra to Bill O’Reilly.

“I’m happy to take up Bill’s challenge — it’s simply the pull of the moon’s gravity on the Earth that produces the tides,” wrote Lintott. “The Earth’s solid surface is stretched by the moon’s pull, but the oceans are free to move more dramatically, producing the familiar two tides a day. Nothing too complicated about that, although it did take Isaac Newton’s theories to get the explanation clear.”

Whatever. Bill will just shout “YOU CAN’T EXPLAIN IT!” at Isaac Newton until Isaac realizes he’s right.

A few days ago, Bill O’Reilly slammed Jennifer Aniston for her comments on single parenting. Promoting her upcoming film, The Switch, Aniston said, “Women are realizing it more and more knowing that they don’t have to settle with a man just to have that child. Times have changed and that is also what is amazing is that we do have so many options these days, as opposed to our parents’ days when you can’t have children because you have waited too long.”

Bill wasn’t having this. He said Aniston’s comments were “destructive to our society” and that she was “glamorizing single parenting” and that she was “diminishing the role of the dad.” Bill explained, “Dads bring psychology to children that is in this society. I believe, under-emphasized. I think men get hosed all day long in the parental arena.” I assume he shouted all this, not just to get his point across, but so everyone knew he meant business.

Well, Aniston fired back. “Of course, the ideal scenario for parenting is obviously two parents of a mature age. Parenting is one of the hardest jobs on earth. And, of course, many women dream of finding Prince Charming (with fatherly instincts), but for those who’ve not yet found their Bill O’Reilly, I’m just glad science has provided a few other options.”

If there’s anyone more annoying than Jennifer Aniston, it’s Bill O’Reilly. That guy is a big douchebag. I’d rather listen to Aniston lie to me about how great it is to be single in Hollywood than listen to O’Reilly shout in my ear about another inane issue. He’s like your cantankerous, senile grandpa who argues with you over the most innocent of comments. The only reason O’Reilly has any credibility is because someone found out people like to see other people yell on tv.

At the Declare Yourself event in Washington, D.C., The O’Reilly Factor asked Jessica Alba if she had a shout-out for the show’s host, Bill O’Reilly. Turns out she did. Sort of. Not really.

Alba said Bill is “kind of an a-hole” and that he must have been born that way. The interviewer asked for an example of his a-holish behavior, to which Alba responded, “Um, no. Then that means I’m admitting I actually watched FOX.” Oh, snap.

Bill played the clip on his show and, while he put on a brave front, he must have died a little inside knowing Alba hates him. He probably went home and punched a girl scout in the face afterward. That’s what I would do if I was stressed.
