Producers reportedly backed out of financing Steven Soderbergh’s Side Effects because Blake Lively was attached to star. Well, they dropped Lively from the film and replaced her with Rooney Mara, the new Oscar-nominated “it” girl, which should get them all the financing they need.

Though it must suck to hear people think you’re a worse actor than Channing Tatum who’s still attached. That’s probably the most insulting part of this. I’ve seen mannequins with more range.

Even the mere mention of Blake Lively as the lead in a film is enough to make producers back out. The Playlist had a rumor that Lively was cast as a pill-popping woman in a love triangle between her doctor an ex-con husband, played by Jude Law and Channing Tatum, in Steven Soderbergh’s Side Effects. That rumor was enough to cause film studio Annapurno so much concern that they dropped out of financing it. The movie, to be distributed by Open Road Films, now needs new financers which it hopes to find at Sundance.

“We don’t have any cast set yet. We’re definitely very interested in those actors, but there’s nobody set,” he said. “It’s a little frustrating because it can often spoil the process a little bit. When things become public in general, they’re harder to manage. As a producer it becomes more complicated. A lot of the rumors are false and people are disappointed when you actually hire the person you wanted. It’s a little problematic, it’s something you have to live with.”

Variety reports that Annapurna dropped out of the film Friday, days before di Bonaventura denied the concrete casting, making clear the tangible effect on production that can be wrought by the rumor mill. Scarlett Johansson divorced Ryan Reynolds a year ago and, soon after, started making the covers of all the weeklies by dating that jackass Sean Penn but now she’s mad Ryan moved on and moved in with his now girlfriend Blake Lively. This makes complete sense.

Reports are coming in that Blake Lively and her career stepping stone Leonardo DiCaprio have called it quits because his mother thought she was an uppity b*tch. Haha, momma’s boy.

According to sources, Lively flew out to Italy to meet the Inception actor’s mom, who “couldn’t stand” the 23-year-old.

A close friend explained to Now magazine: “Blake’s a total mess. She tried hard to impress Leo’s mom when they met but Irmelin couldn’t stand her.

“She told Leo that Blake was far too up herself for him. Blake was nervous so she did talk a lot. But his mom says all she did was talk about Gossip Girl and how she’s a Chanel model.

“Leo listens to his mom and the fact that she didn’t like her has put him off.”

Well, that’s weird. People usually love it when others go on and on about their incredible lives. Isn’t that how friends are made? Like when I’m at the bar.
