Candy Spelling has started using TMZ as an intermediary to her daughter, Tori. She sent an open letter to the site explaining why she’s not going to go to her granddaughter’s first birthday party. Candy said she doesn’t want the first time she meets her granddaughter to be a stunt for reality tv.

I Know many middle-aged people have issues about their parents and their upbringing. I did. My memories didn’t match all those of my mother, and, funny thing, it’s the same way with my daughter.

Life has consequences. What you say is on the record. Other people have feelings.

I have a vested interest in this subject. My daughter, Tori’s, two-part season finale revolves around my granddaughter’s first birthday party and how she has made what seems like an agonizing decision to invite me.

Cue music. Cue sideways glances. Cue Lights.

I did get an invitation just in time for the RSVP deadline. I’m sure its delivery will be on next week’s episode with some comment about my house or driveway or street or something they won’t like. I wonder if that will be spread out over one part or two. Sigh.

A big party wasn’t how I envisioned meeting my granddaughter for the first time; but, hey, this is Hollywood, and my grandchildren have become reality show props, too. At the time I emailed “yes,” I didn’t realize I was being set up for a two-parter, even though it was clear I was being invited to be part of a segment for my daughter’s reality show.

Spoiler alert. Don’t read this if you plan to sit through an hour of people looking at their watches and saying “she’s late.” I decided my first meeting with my granddaughter should be on home video, not primetime cable; so I emailed that I would not be attending.

Back to other reality stars. My husband taught me that the plots have to be fresh and updated. The same old whining gets tired after a while. Enough complaining about what may or may not have happened during first grade or YMCA camp, or what vegetable you were forced to endure, especially when you are privileged enough to be on TV and get paid for it.

For all the reality show personalities, please remember that real life doesn’t get edited to make things better or worse or get better ratings. You’re responsible for what you do. Life isn’t just a show. And your families can’t just be props. Make your own season finale without creating conflicts you will regret later.

In next week’s episode, Tori Spelling will angrily deny that she uses kids as props in her reality series. All the while she’ll be waving the baby in front of the camera. Tori probably wants to film the kid’s first words which will be, “Why won’t grandma come visit me?”

Candy Spelling took to The Huffington Post to explain what she meant when she said Tori killed Aaron Spelling. You see, Candy didn’t blurt this out at random (she did). Candy claims she was asked about why she and her daughter haven’t reconciled. So, obviously the most appropriate answer was to tell the world how Tori sapped Aaron of his will to live. Candy writes:

I didn’t intend to create headlines. I was asked a question about my daughter not speaking with my family, and I answered truthfully. My husband was very ill, and he had stopped eating and taking liquids. He called Tori on a daily basis, and never stopped asking if Tori had returned his call. We had to say no every day.

Wait. Was this an apology or a clarification? Because it doesn’t sound like either. It sounds more like Candy just confirmed what she said earlier. That she believes Tori killed her father. But this time she describes in greater detail exactly how she did it. This is like shooting someone and telling the jury they’re misunderstanding the situation and then going on to describe exactly how they made the bullet leave the chamber and punch straight through the victim’s skull.

Candy Spelling and Tori Spelling haven’t gotten along for ages and judging by an interview she had with 94.7, things haven’t changed much. They may have actually become worse. While promoting her book, Stories from Candyland, Candy told the radio station that Tori killed Aaron Spelling.

“My daughter one day decided that she wasn’t speaking to my husband, myself and my son, and that’s how it’s continued for the last, oh gosh, four or five years.”

“And it was sad, that’s what killed my husband, actually. He just didn’t want to live after that. He [had] just done everything he could possibly do for his daughter, and she wanted no part of him once he couldn’t do anything for her.”

Candy went on to wonder out loud why she and Tori have always talked about reconnecting, but have never gone through with it.

“I’ve always been trying to work on the relationship. I don’t know what the anger is.”

Yea, what’s your problem, Tori? Where is this anger coming from? You act like your mother said something deeply hurtful. As if Candy told the world you killed your father or something. Man, whatever your problem is, Tori, you need to get over it. Your mother isn’t going to be waiting around with open arms forever. God, sometimes no one knows what’s going on in that head of yours.

Tori Spelling’s mom Candy has decided that her daughter doesn’t need any significant amount from Aaron Spelling’s $500 million.

Despite reports that Tori Spelling would inherit millions from her father’s $500 million estate, Us has learned exclusively that the actress, 33, will get just 0.16 % of the Spelling fortune. Tori’s share – a cash inheritance payment of $200,000, combined with approximately $600,000 in private investments her dad set up for her – is a brush-off Aaron Spelling would never have intended for his only daughter, says a family source.

I’m no math genius, but 0.16% sounds pretty small even if that amounts to $800,000. Now Tori has to rely on her business savvy and acting ability to make a living. Which pretty much means you’ll be seeing Tori at the dollar store and pawn shops much more often.
