In shockingly shocking news, DJ AM’s death has been ruled an accidental overdose of prescription drugs and cocaine. The New York medical examiner’s toxicology report said that the drugs found in AM’s body included OxyContin, Hydrocodone or Vicodin, Xanax, Ativan, Klonopin, Benadryl and Levamisole. DJ AM was basically a pharmacy at the time of his death. If you phoned his liver, you could have had you prescription filled in under an hour. [NYT]

DJ AM’s death may now be ruled a suicide. A law enforcement source tells PEOPLE that AM was found with nine OxyContin pills in his body. This along with a Valentine’s Day card from his girlfriend Hayley Wood and six or seven photos of them together next to that. A crack pipe was also found by his side and crack found underneath his body. In addition, Goldstein had barricaded both the apartment door and his bedroom door. Between you and me, I think he may have planned this.

The finding suggests that DJ AM – real name Adam Goldstein – swallowed the powerful painkillers quickly. “He wanted to die,” says the source, who says the suicide theory is supported by the pills and other evidence. “He was going unconscious when he took the last one. He didn’t even swallow it.”

Authorities say it is far-fetched to believe that DJ AM thought the OxyContin he took were Tic Tacs which he accidentally ate for his bad breath. Authorities then asked which news outlet I was from at which point I suspiciously looked left and right and made a run for it.

In related news, DJ AM will be buried today. When Michael Jackson heard the news, he shed a tear.

Reports are coming out that DJ AM’s death was an accidental overdose, not a suicide. Numerous unconfirmed reports say a crack pipe was found next to his body which support the claim of other sources who say his death was caused by a “combination of crack cocaine and benzos.” TMZ explains:

Our sources say DJ AM, a recovering addict, developed a dependency to Xanax and other benzodiazepines (a group of drugs used to treat anxiety) as a direct result of the plane crash a year ago. We’re told AM (aka Adam Goldstein) developed a tremendous anxiety over flying — something he had to do frequently for his job. We’re told doctors began prescribing Xanax and other anti-anxiety medications to relieve his fear, but the benzos triggered a relapse into addiction. We’re told benzos are particularly dicey for recovering addicts.

DJ AM, clean for many years and seemingly had his life together, relapsed into drugs because the plane crash he suffered caused him such severe anxiety that doctors had to prescribe him Xanax and other medication just so he could fly and do his job. Seems like a cruel twist of fate. He should have done what I do. Never leave the house and develop a crippling fear of human interaction.

36-year-old DJ AM’s body was discovered today in his New York apartment around 5:20 p.m. A friend had not heard from AM (Adam Goldstein) in days and went to check on him. There was no response after knocking on his apartment door. The cops were called and the fire apartment finally entered the room. Sources say prescription pill bottles were found near his body.

Adam was last seen throwing the first pitch at a Met’s game at Citi Field last Sunday. In September 2008, he and Travis Barker were the only survivors of a plane crash in South Carolina. [TMZ]

Adam Goldstein aka DJ AM is suing Learjet for $20 million in damages after surviving a plane crash in South Carolina. A crash that left four dead and two survivors including him and Travis Barker.

Goldstein is seeking $10 million for “medical expenses, lost earnings, profits and economic damages” and another $10 million for pain and suffering according to documents filed Friday.

If the case goes to trial, a jury will ultimately decide if AM gets anything.

It’s amazing Goldstein survived and it’s a shame that most of his body was burned, but $20 million is a ridiculous amount of money. DJ AM might as well ask for a unicorn and a mermaid while he’s at it. Maybe even a magic carpet that will fly him wherever he desires.

Travis Barker did it right quick. Now it’s DJ AM’s turn. Adam Goldstein has sued the estates of the two dead pilots, Sarah Lemmon and James Bland, who AM blames for the plane crash that left him and Travis Barker badly burned and four others dead. He is suing for a litany of claims including pain and suffering, lost earnings, property damage, past and future medical and health-related expenses, and punitive damages.

Also named in the suit are Clay Lacy Aviation, Global Exec Aviation, Inter Travel & Services Inc, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co, and Learjet. Basically anyone who had anything to do with the plane. Anyone know who provided the peanuts? DJ AM wants to sue them too. TMZ reports:

In the lawsuit filed this afternoon in L.A. County Superior Court, Adam Goldstein, aka DJ AM, claims as the jet reached takeoff speed the pilots became aware one or more of the tires had blown. The suit contends, “Rather than proceed to takeoff, they decided to abort and/or reject the takeoff in a negligent manner.” The plane overshot the runway and burst into flames.

Let me get this straight. He wanted them to take off. I don’t know much about air travel or these winged horses, but how did AM expect the plane to land without the same thing happening? Okay, yea, they probably would have had more time to figure out a solution. And maybe the pilot could have landed in the water. And maybe everyone on that plane could have drowned instead of being burned. But apart from repairing the tire in mid-flight or forest pixies banding together to guide the plane to a safe landing, I don’t see a less disastorous outcome.

Having dated briefly in 2007, Mandy Moore and Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein are back together. Ever since the plane crash that sent Adam to the hospital with burns all over his body, they’ve reconnected and Mandy has been giving Adam pity sex.

“Mandy said, ‘I like this guy a lot and I want to see where it can go again. Life is too short to not be with someone you really care about.’”

A witness saw Mandy and AM rubbing each other’s backs. Probably because that’s the only place which didn’t get burned. So take it from Adam Goldstein. If you want a girl who’s way out of your league to have sex with you, set yourself on fire and tell her you were in a big accident. She’ll feel sorry for you and will let you try anal or at least give you a handjob.

DJ AM was released from Doctors Hospital in August, Georgia after a week of being treated for second and third degree burns. He is currently on his way back to LA.

“While he is deeply saddened by the events he is thankful for all of the love and support he has been receiving from fans and friends world wide,” the rep said. “We ask that you continue respect his privacy as he rests and heals and mourns the loss of his friends.”

Travis Barker is still in the hospital being treated for burns on the lower half of his body. Barker’s business partner Jermaine Dupri says he should be out of the hospital in two weeks.

Good for Travis and DJ AM. Fight those burns. Don’t let fire win. Why is fire always causing trouble anyway? Why does it have to be that way? I blame its parents.

WOLO-TV put up the dash cam video from a police cruiser that responded to the scene of Travis Barker and DJ AM’s plane crash in South Carolina. You can see the fire from the wreckage and hear Travis crying for help on 911. Corners say that the two pilots died from smoke inhalation while the other two passengers died from impact related injuries. God, this must be the worst blown tire in the history of the world.

Although they remain in critical condition at the Joseph Still Burn Center, Travis Barker and DJ AM are expected to make a full recovery. TMZ reports that they may have saved their own lives by jumping out of the door of the plane immediately after it came to a complete stop. It’s unclear why the other four passengers who died didn’t do the same. The cockpit voice recorder shows that a blown tire may have caused the accident. Investigations are ongoing.

“Reasons could be anything from inflation levels, materials, punctures, design, etc. So we are doing everything in our power to learn what transpired and make recommendations so nothing like this ever happens again.”

PEOPLE also reports that Shanna Moakler rushed to Travis Barker’s side while Mandy Moore rushed to DJ AM’s. Which proves that even tragedies such as this have a silver lining. You know these guys are getting a week of bj’s once they’re discharged from the hospital. It almost makes having 90% of their body charred worth it. Almost.

Former Blink-182/Aquabats drummer Travis Barker and former Nicole Richie boyfriend Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein were seriously injured in a jet crash that killed four people in South Carolina Friday night. Among the dead were Sarah Lemmon, 31, of Anaheim Hills; co-pilot James Bland, 52, of Carlsbad; Chris Baker, 29, of Studio City; and Charles Still, 25, of Los Angeles. Baker was Travis’ assistant and Still was Travis’ security guard.

The Learjet crashed during takeoff. Air traffic controllers “saw sparks coming from the runway — whether that was from the aircraft or its engines, we don’t know.” Barker and Goldstein were seen running around the runway stripping off their clothes to put out the flames. They are in critical condition with extensive burns and are being treated at a burn center in Augusta, GA.

“They overran the end of runway 11. They impacted the antenna array and a number of lights at the end of the runway. They went through the perimeter fence and across the roadway here,” said NTSB spokeswoman Debbie Hersman, briefing reporters on Saturday. “There was a significant post-crash fire.”

I don’t want to make light of this situation, but if Travis ever wanted to get rid of a few of his tattoos, now would be a good time.
