Dr. Jan Adams, the plastic surgeon who operated on Donda West the day before she died, went on Larry King Live last night and immediately walked off. Adams explained he wouldn’t do the interview because he wanted to honor the West family’s wishes. Perfectly reasonable except for the fact he could have told someone about this while he was being prepped, while they were putting on his makeup or even before that camera guy started to count down. I guess he wanted to be dramatic kind of like my last date. Jebus, it was only anal. No need to cry about it. It’s not like I killed your mother or anything.

The big story this week is that Kanye West’s mother, Donda West, died following complications from a breast reduction and tummy tuck performed by one Dr. Jan Adams, not to be confused with Dr. Patch Adams. Dr. Adams says Donda may have died from a “heart attack, pulmonary embolism, or massive vomiting.” The procedure lasted eight hours from Friday morning to Friday night which was four hours more than normal. Adams then sent Donda home instead of to a recovery center.

Dr. Adams tells us West consulted with him over a period of four months. He says she changed her mind numerous times, sometimes greenlighting the surgery and sometimes halting it.

As for the TMZ report that Beverly Hills doctor Andre Aboolian refused to conduct the surgery because of a medical condition that West had, Dr. Adams said of Dr. Aboolian, “He is sleazy and manipulating the truth to elevate his own importance.”

It gets worse as TMZ is unearthing documents about the doctor saying that he has a DUI and a traffic accident and a malpractice suit. After her tummy tuck, lipo and breast augmentation,

Terrie Cage claims on June 27, 2007, Dr. Adams and another doctor “negligently and carelessly examined, diagnosed, cared for, treated and performed surgery upon plaintiff, failing to follow the standard care …” As a result, Cage alleges she was “rendered sick, sore, lame and disabled.”

Another malpractice lawsuit stemming from a botched tummy tuck claims Dr. Adams lied about his credentials.

The suit claims the defendants “failed to give the plaintiff proper preoperative and postoperative follow up care … ” resulting in a “postoperative infection” that caused her to undergo two surgeries to remove sutures and revise her scar.

And in yet another suit a patient claims she was tricked by the doctor because no one told her about the malpractice lawsuits. Suffice to say, things aren’t looking good for the doctor. He should do what I do when I’m about to get in trouble. Cover my ears with my hands and scream, “La la la la la la la, I can’t hear you!” If you can’t hear it, it didn’t happen. Trust me. This will baffle the judges in LA. “What do I do? He can’t hear me! OMG, I’ve been outsmarted. Again!”

Update: Mensa member Chris, who’s had sex with Britney Spears and her mother, reminds us that malpratice suits are not uncommon. Although, Dr. Adams did have three DUIs causing the Medical Board of California to file papers to revoke his license and another lawsuit claiming he left a sponge in the patient. There are also some reports saying Donda may have ignored medical advice about the surgery and cite another doctor who refused to operate on her unless she underwent a cardiac stress test.
