Evangeline Lilly, who’ll play an elf in The Hobbit, opted for a natural birth in her own home when she delivered her son last May. She must be a sadomasochist because it lasted 30 hours and 8 of them was just her pushing.

“I actually skipped the hospital … We decided to have the baby at home because we wanted it to be a natural birth, and it turns out that it was 30 hours of natural,” the Real Steel star, 32, explained during a Monday appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

“Eight hours of pushing, that’s the part that men don’t understand. Women go, ‘Oh, dear, oh, dear God, eight hours of pushing?’ And the men are like, ‘Okay, eight hours of pushing.’”

“After about five hours of pushing, my midwife and my birthing assistant said, ‘You know, we have a few suggestions,’” she says. “And I was like, ‘Really? After five hours of pushing you have a few suggestions? You couldn’t have told me five minutes in?’” PEOPLE

Women always say men will never understand what they go through during childbirth. I respectfully disagree. 8 hours of pushing? Clearly they never ate at the Indian restaurant by me.

To be an actor or actress in Hollywood, you have to be full of yourself and somewhat delusional. Evangeline Lilly has both bases covered. The Lost actress tells Women’s Health that she isn’t that famous because she doesn’t want to be. Lilly says producers “have seen that I haven’t picked up on the opportunity to become a big movie star. It frustrates [them] that they’ve given me this chance to become the next Angelia Jolie” but she hasn’t gone after it. Lilly adds, “Sure, I’d love to be her, but just the humanitarian side.”

This kind of overselling is what keeps B-listers sane in Hollywood. If they came down to reality, they’d probably sink into a deep depression and kill themselves. Evangeline Lilly was on Jay Leno last night and talked about being so cheap that she didn’t want to move out of her mold infested house even though it was making her sick.

“I bought a house last summer and ended up finding out it was completely mould infested. I was getting poisoned by the mould and therefore got very ill for four months, but I didn’t move, even though I knew there was something wrong because I’m just really cheap. If I have to pay a mortgage and rent, I am not a happy person. Eventually my illness overrode my thriftiness so I moved.”

Evangeline also hates tipping.

After Dominic Monaghan’s character on Lost was killed off, he moved back to Los Angeles and tried making a relationship with Evangeline Lilly, who was still filming in Hawaii, work. The distance proved too great and the pair eventually broke up. Now following a series of “intense phone calls and meetings” (re: phone sex and sex), the two may have rekindled their romance.

“They never stopped loving each other. She remained in Hawaii for the show, and he moved back to Los Angeles when he was killed off, so the distance took its toll. They decided to take a break, but it was really hard on them both.”.

A fire broke out in Evangeline Lilly’s rented Honolulu house yesterday. Neither she nor her roommates were home. The house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

Evangeline can stay with me until she finds a new home. Sure I’m not in Hawaii and she’ll probably hear some noises in her room at night, but how can she say no to a stud like me?
