If you made it through the Oscar death montage on Sunday without falling asleep, then you may have noticed that among the actors, actresses, writers, execs, production assistants and that homeless man who hangs around the lot every day, two notable people were left out. Those being Farrah Fawcett who died of cancer last June and Bea Arthur who died last April at 86. Radar wanted an explanation so they asked Academy Awards rep Leslie Unger who probably didn’t even watch the montage. She said:

It is highly unlikely that we forgot about Farrah Fawcett but we unfortunately don’t include everyone each year.” She added: “There are many angles that are looked at as to who to include and unfortunately we don’t include everyone.”

Bruce Davis, executive director of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, explained that the committee always has to make tough cuts days before the show.

“It is the single most troubling element of the Oscar show every year,” he said. “Because more people die each year than can possibly be included in that segment.” His office keeps a running list of those who have passed away since last year’s segments which he and a small committee whittle down from more than 100 names to about 30. “You are dropping people who the public knows. It’s just not comfortable.”

I’m not saying Farrah Fawcett’s death or Bea Arthur’s death was more important than any others, but if they’re going to put David Carradine up there who choked himself to death while whacking off, they should at least put Farrah and Bea Arthur up as well. At least with those two, you don’t get all the old Hollywood stars asking, “Wait, explain to me how he died again? He put a rope around his neck and did what?”

First Ed McMahon and now Farrah Fawcett. This is turning into a bad week for celebrities. Earlier, Fawcett’s rep tweeted that she was given her last rites and that she was not in pain.

It is now being reported that Farrah lost her battle with cancer and died this Thursday morning at 9:28 at the St. John’s Health Center in LA. Farrah’s only child, Redmond, could not be by her side because he’s in jail although Ryan O’Neal and Alana Stewart were there. Ryan and Fawcett did not marry as planned in her final days. Ryan released this statement:

“After a long and brave battle with cancer, our beloved Farrah has passed away. Although this is an extremely difficult time for her family and friends, we take comfort in the beautiful times that we shared with Farrah over the years and the knowledge that her life brought joy to so many people around the world.”

It’s about time we do something about that cancer. It’s always causing trouble. I blame its mother.

Melissa Joan Hart is currently enjoying her place on the cover of PEOPLE magazine, a pinnacle of achievement for the teenage witch. She’s also wishing the cancer stricken Farrah Fawcett well. Because Melissa cares so much, you see. At KTLA in LA last Friday, Melissa was overheard saying off-camera that she hopes Farrah Fawcett doesn’t die because it would bump her off the cover.

Aww, what a sweet girl. Hopefully she enjoys hot weather since she’s probably going to hell. I’ll meet her there. We can have a barbecue. God knows how much Melissa likes anything with the letters BBQ in it.

Lindsay kicked out of even by Samantha Ronson: Lindsay and Sam may be really broken-up. Samantha Ronson explicitly banned Lindsay from a party at Bar Marmont celebrating her fashion designer sister Charlotte Ronson’s I Heart Ronson clothing line. Lindsay, knowing she was unwelcome, still tried to get in but was held back by five bouncers. They needed that many because they would only touch Lindsay with three fingers like you would a pair of soiled underwear sitting under your bed for two years.

Madonna left Malawi: Madonna left the African country after throwing a farewell party on Saturday. Guests included government officials and staff from Madonna’s charity. On Sunday, she boarded her plane and left proving to Malawians that it takes about 15 shamans to scare away the white witch.

Farrah Fawcett’s son arrested again: While his mom is lying in the hospital, Redmond O’Neal was arrested for drug possession. He was charged with smuggling drugs since he was caught in the jail parking lot. On the bright side, this time it wasn’t a father-son arrest. Which means they’re making progress or daddy is getting really good at hiding drugs.
