George Carlin died from heart failure Sunday night at Saint John’s Hospital in Santa Monica. The 71-year-old comedian had long been suffering from heart problems most likely related to the drug abuse he made no effort to hide. Carlin, considered to be in the same class as Richard Pryor and Lenny Bruce, was famous for his Seven Words That Can Never Be Said On Television album which caused a 1978 high court to uphold the “ight to penalize stations that broadcast such material during hours when young people may typically be tuned in.” It’s not clear what his last words were, but “Fuck you Death,” would be as good a guess as any.
