After Mackenzie Phillips dropped the bombshell that she had consensual sex with her father for 10 years stopping only when she found out she was pregnant, her step-mom, Michelle Phillips, claimed that she was lying.

I spoke to Michelle this morning by phone; she has not read Mackenzie’s book, published today, called “High on Arrival.” Michelle Phillips says that in 1997, Mackenzie told everyone in their extended family that she and her father, Michelle’s famous former husband, had had a sexual relationship.

“She told me, then she called me back and said, ‘You know I’m joking,’ ” Michelle told me. “I said it wasn’t funny. Mackenzie said, ‘I guess we have different senses of humor.’ ”

Today, Bijou Phillips, Mackenzie’s half-sister, said she knew about the molestation and was afraid of being left alone with her father.

In a statement read by Oprah Winfrey on her talk show Friday, Bijou Phillips says she was 13 years old when Mackenzie Phillips told her about the sexual relationship.

Bijou Phillips is now 29 and says the news was confusing and scary. She says it was “heartbreaking” to think her family would leave her alone with her father.

Mackenzie Phillips says she did go get her sister when she “felt like she wasn’t being watched properly.”

Obviously Bijou’s fears were unfounded. John wouldn’t molest her like he did Mackenzie. People say he was a one daughter kind of guy. Plus, Bijou had no idea how to roll a joint or tie John off so he could shoot heroin into his arms. She was pretty much dead to him.

Mackenzie Phillips of One Day At A Time fame will be on Oprah today to talk about her past drug addiction, how her father John Phillips, of the band the Mamas and the Papas, raped her and how that eventually became consensual. I believe the last two are the biggest shockers.

“On the eve of my wedding, my father showed up, determined to stop it,” writes Phillips, who was 19 and a heavy drug user at the time. “I had tons of pills, and Dad had tons of everything too. Eventually I passed out on Dad’s bed.”

“My father was not a man with boundaries. He was full of love, and he was sick with drugs. I woke up that night from a blackout to find myself having sex with my own father.

“Had this happened before? I didn’t know. All I can say is it was the first time I was aware of it. For a moment I was in my body, in that horrible truth, and then I slid back into a blackout.”

Phillips’ life began to spiral out of control. In 1980, she was fired from One Day at a Time because of her constant drug use. That same year, she went to rehab – with her father. She even toured with him in a band called the New Mamas and the Papas. Her sexual relationship with him had become consensual. [PEOPLE]

Had John not died, he should probably be strung up to a tree by his genitals for at least a week, but it’s interesting how Mackenzie almost makes excuses for him by saying he was “full of love.” If I had a heart, I’d be full of love too. That doesn’t mean I’m going to go around and stick my dork in people after pumping them full of pills.

48-year-old Mackenzie Phillips, Julie Cooper on One Day at a Time and half-sister to Bijou Phillips, was being screened by TSA at LAX when personnel discovered baggies and balloons filled with what was suspected to be heroin and cocaine. She is currently in custody.

Mackenzie’s drug abuse dates back to the late 70′s. IMDB says:

During the run of the 1979-1980 season, Mackenzie started to fall off the deep end. The producers didn’t know what was wrong – she started getting tired and showing up late for rehearsals. On the set she was incoherent and the producers gave her a six week leave of absence. In 1980, she was fired from the series, went to rehab, then returned in the fall of 1981. Sadly, in 1983, she fell asleep during a rehearsal. Producer Patricia Fass Palmer told her that she had to take another drug test, but she refused and left. She has since recovered and returned to acting.

She should have done what rational people do. Swallowed the balloons and pooped them out the next day or planted it on a random kid and blamed them. Those crazy kids. If it’s not the cocaine and heroin, it’s the heroin and cocaine.
